Texas police officer was shot and killed Tuesday after police approached a man carrying a gun in a residential area, authorities said. The suspected shooter was killed after a few hours.
The alleged sniper who was found dead around 10:00 pm, The Dallas Morning News. He was hiding in a house on the 1400 block of Turtle Cove on Tuesday night, surrounded by police and SWAT. A Twitter account for the town of Little Elm called it an "active shooter situation in the Lobo and El Dorado area".
Officials responded to the house in about three hours after residents reported seeing a man carrying a firearm, authorities said. After being told to drop the gun, the suspect began firing at the officers inside the house, said Lt. Orlando Hinojosa. Detective Jerry Walker who beaten, they told a news conference.
Other officers were able to drive a police car to Walker's aid and move him to another area where he was taken by helicopter to Denton Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
